touch panel suppliers J Touch and Swenc Technology have both logged sharp growths in their revenues for August 2008, as demand began to pick up amid a seasonal upturn for consumer electronics.

J Touch's August sales grew 87% sequentially to NT$219 million (US$6.88 million), while Swenc's sales for the month totaled NT$108 million, up 46% compared to July.

J Touch said shipments to a Korea-based handset vendor have grown sharply since late July. Demand for its single-layer capacitive type and frameless resistive type panels has been particularly strong, the company added.

) E4 @5 x( Q' _% IBut the global economic downturn has slowed growth for the touch panel makers so far this year as both have only reported less than 10% on-year revenues increases for the January-August period. The two companies saw strong revenues grow more than 70% in the same period last year.
