T5 b. t9 h; u- ^3 IIC design house Egalax_empia Technology Incorporated (EETI) is working with US-based Cypress Semiconductor in developing capacitive touch panel solutions and the Taiwan-based designer expects the proportion of revenues contributed from the touch panel segment will grow to 50% in 2008 from 40% in 2007, according to EETI president Mei Tsai.$ z7 X- D- r8 g; F# [0 l/ _

Tsai said the solution being co-developed with Cypress will mainly see EETI provide the capacitive controller ICs, with glass substrates coming from touch panel suppliers. The solution offers water and oil resistance to cope with the hot and humid weather in sub-tropical areas, such as Taiwan, Tsai added.& ?6 l  I% C% ^

EETI, which starts trading on Taiwan's over-the-counter (OTC) market on April 15, reported NT$599 million (US$19.77 million) in revenues for 2007, with a net profit of NT$130 million. Revenues for the first quarter of 2008 totaled NT$142 million, up 17% on year.
