3M Touch Systems tapped by Kristel for interactive digital signs

Kristel has been including 3M's technology in its casino and kiosk products "for several years," according to company officials. </p><p>3M's touch technology recognizes touch by interpreting bending waves within the glass substrate created by the contact of a finger or stylus on glass. The company uses the platform in high-traffic applications, such as interactive digital signage, retail point of sale, food-service, hospitality, self-service and mobile handheld environments. </p><p>Financial terms of the deal were not provided. </p><p>3M Touch Systems is a subsidiary of industrial products giant 3M Co. (NYSE: MMM) and was formed in 2000 through 3M's $160 million acquisition of Methuen's MicroTouch Systems Inc. in 2000. </p><p>Kristel is a privately held organization that designs and manufactures high-resolution custom displays.
